Kaitlyn Kroeger
Doctoral Candidate
The University of Texas at Austin
I am a fifth year accounting PhD student at the University of Texas at Austin and expect to graduate in May 2025. I strive to produce research that is informative not only to academics, but also to policymakers, managers and practitioners. My current research focuses on corporate tax avoidance and offshoring by public accounting firms.
Prior to pursuing my PhD, I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana. I worked for Grant Thornton in Chicago as an experienced tax manager, specializing in accounting for income taxes. During my tenure at GT, I also completed a one year secondment in Bangalore, India at the Grant Thornton Shared Services Center (now known as GT INDUS). I am a licensed CPA in the state of Illinois.
Outside of accounting, I enjoy reading, college football, going to the movies, taking long walks and Peloton cycling. I am also an avid traveler. To date, I have visited 39 countries and am always on the lookout for a new adventure. Some of my favorite experiences include celebrating New Year's Eve in Iceland, learning to care for elephants in Thailand, gorilla trekking in Uganda, cruising Ha Long Bay and summitting Mt. Kilimanjaro.
